Privacy and cookies
What we collect when you contact or book with us, why, who else sees it, and how to change your mind.
Who is responsible
José Ribeiro, the operator of Ria Green House, is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact us by email or WhatsApp with any question about your data; the details are in the footer and on the contact page.
What we collect and why
When you send an enquiry we receive your name, email address, dates, number of guests and anything you write. We use it only to answer you and, if you book, to manage your stay. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, and then the contract itself.
When you message us on WhatsApp, the conversation is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy.
When you stay, Portuguese law requires accommodation providers to register guests and to report the stays of foreign guests to the authorities. We pass on only what the law asks for.
Cookies and similar storage
Necessary storage: the site remembers your cookie choice and, if you pick one, your language. Neither is used for tracking.
Analytics cookies: only if you accept them, we load Google Analytics, which tells us which pages are read and which links lead to bookings. If you choose "Only necessary", nothing from Google loads. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
Who else processes your data
Cloudflare hosts the site and keeps short technical logs for security. Web3Forms passes enquiry form messages to our inbox. Google processes analytics data if you accept analytics cookies. Once online booking opens, Lodgify will process bookings and payments. Each acts on our instructions or under its own terms as a processor.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted within 12 months. Booking records are kept as long as Portuguese tax and accommodation law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, and object to or limit how we use it. Write to us and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD (cnpd.pt).
